Essentially EA|GA RAS Technologies is a life support system for shrimp, creating a water environment for growing that is organic, sustainable, pollution free, and has little or no impact on the surrounding environment.

The 2.5 ha facility, built to enhance biosecurity issues with separate grow out buildings, processing, feed storage and administration areas will produce 500 tons of shrimp per year. Certified pathogen free (SPF) Post larval Shrimp (PL) will be sourced and acclimated to the grow out tanks, reaching a mature size of 20-22g (head on), ready for harvest in 110-130 days.

Through our partnership with Longhorn Organics, EA|GA RAS Technologies has taken the existing recirculating technology that has been commercially practiced for over 40 years to new heights by developing a proprietary, state-of–the-art, life support system and feed program resulting in a cleaner, greener, safer alternative to open-water farms and does not compete with other ocean or shoreline resources producing an extremely high yield of shrimp per cubic meter of water, exceeding global regulations while furnishing a high value organic product.

A dual filtration process for conditioning and processing the water is used in the grow out tanks. Primary filtration is through fluidized bed bioreactors that are dedicated to each grow out tank, controlling ammonia levels in the system using a substrate with a high specific surface area on which nitrifying bacteria can attach and grow. A secondary filtration process removes fine and dissolved solids, organic compounds, disinfects and sterilizes the water to remove pathogens, dissolved organic matter and heavy metals. Mitigation of disease outbreaks has been controlled by incorporating strict biosecurity protocols developed and supervised by Longhorn Organics, Inc.



EA|GA Water Quality Monitoring and Process Control
The EA|GA RAS technologies facility is monitored and controlled by a central control system . The proprietary system incorporates components from several manufacturers resulting in a centrally operated system that monitors all necessary functions of the RAS as well as automatically adjusting water flow rates and other parameters as necessary to optimize the performance of the system.

OxyGuard Commander central process control system handles water quality metering, monitoring and control functions for the life support systems of the facility.

The water quality monitoring system is displayed on PC with automatic monitoring of PH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, ammonia levels and salinity. When parameter's out of normal, the subject tank will display in a color code for instant recognition on all displays.

Once the operating parameters are exceeded, the system notifies recipients through the PC screens, sms text, e-mail or Mobile Device App.

The Commander automatically controls precise water flows, water quality parameter functions, artificial lighting, automatic feeding systems and more resulting in a system that is responsive ever changing needs of the shrimp.

The overall RAS system can be monitored on a mobile device that alos supports partial facility control using an App from EA|GA RAS Technologies.



The Facility

The EA|GA RAS Technologies shrimp production facility will be located on approximately 2.5 hectares of land. The compound will be surrounded by a fence with a single security entrance.

Biosecurity protocol will be practiced on the total compound. Access for vehicles and persons shall be limited to a single access point. The compound is divided into two zones with different biosecurity protocols.
  • Controlled Access Zone (CAZ)
  • Restricted Access Zone (RAZ)

The CAZ is an outer bio secure area that is further divided into two areas:
  • Employee and Guest parking
  • Deliveries, pickups and service
  • All vehicles entering the CAZ must pass through a decontamination pond located at the gated entrance

All production operations are located within the RAZ. They include buildings or structures as follows:
  • Seven grow out buildings
  • Algae production
  • Processing
  • Warehousing
  • Administration
  • Hatchery

The production facility consists of seven grow out buildings and a support area. Four grow out buildings are located on one side of a common access lane while three grow out buildings and the support structures on the other side.

All persons entering the RAZ must do so through a security entrance located adjacent to the administration section. All employees and guests must enter the production area of the RAZ only after appropriate outer garments and boots are obtained. Deliveries to and product shipment from the facility will be through he warehousing and processing areas respectively. Drivers and other personnel from companies delivering or receiving product are prohibited from entering the production area.

Seven grow out buildings are used for the production of the shrimp. Each building will have limited access through a single entrance to maintain the strict biosecurity practices enforced on site.

Each grow out building will consist of:
  • 10 grow out tanks, each with a capacity of 148.5 m3.
  • One harvest tank.
  • Two independent bioreactors per grow out tank.
  • Common shared secondary filtration system including protein skimmer, ultra violet, Ozone and carbon filtration.
  • Configuration of the tanks allows for the location of the mechanicals to be in a center isle way between the tanks.
  • Perimeter drain for washing the facility.
  • Aeration equipment for supply to tanks as well as for positive pressurization of the building.
  • Algae production for the grow out operations is in a dedicated building for the required climatic and lighting conditions.
  • Make up water is conditioned and stored for subsequent use. A standby generator provides power during such times as the municipal power is interrupted. Both make up water and the standby generator are located at the end of employees parking area.



The Process

Following the procedures established by Longhorn Organics, EA|GA RAS Technologies uses a strict bio-security protocol to insure that the shrimp produced by these facilities are the finest quality shrimp in the world void of all disease and chemicals. Our proprietary process combines high density life support functions with proven feeding regimes that supports growth cycle from stocking to harvest.

Conditioned fresh water is used by the EA|GA RAS Technologies facility. The water is tested, stripped of heavy metals and carbon filtered. Once the water has met the required parameters, minerals salts added. The bioreactors take between two and three cycles to reach full capacity.

The post larvae (PL) shrimp at the PL 5-10 range are purchased from hatcheries that can certify mating pairs whose lineage has been tracked for a minimum of six generations. Each generation is required to be certified pathogen free (SPF).

During the first few harvest cycles of the grow out tanks, fewer shrimp are introduced with the number gradually increasing to the maximum capacity by the third cycle.

Introduction of the PL shrimp is through a multi stage acclimation process that is constantly monitored to insure that the PLs are introduced into the grow out tanks with the least amount of stress possible. The final stage of the acclimation process is introducing the PLs into an isolation cage within the grow out tank (shown in photo).

The EA|GA RAS Technology will produce three harvests per year with a 110-130 day grow out cycle with a resultant shrimp size of 20 ~ 22g (head on). This yields 48 kg of shrimp produced on an annual basis per cubic meter of water.
